Morvannec F1 Press Release

Morvannec F1 Driver Press Release
Team Principle - Elof Valantor

Morvannec F1 has made changes to it's driver line up. Team principle Elof Valantor has confirmed that the teams contract with driver Gregory Morrissey has been terminated to make room for the teams promising youth, Mylio Silvanos. This is what Elof Valantor had to say.

"Well it's been known within the team for some time now that Mylio was going to get a drive soon. All of the drivers knew that with Mylio being the teams youth driver that a time would come when things would have to change. The decision was clear for me, and if I'm honest I have had this change planned for a few seasons now. Dante is leading the championship. There was no question of his staying with the team. Kirk is an experienced tester and would not be replaceable by Gregory, who hasn't been focused on testing for x many seasons. Therefore we had to part ways."

So the Morvannec F1 driver line up now stands as follows.

Drivers (Morvannec F1 does not employ team orders, use of driver numbering is purely for classification)
Driver 1 - Mylio Silvanos
Driver 2 - Dante Jimenez
Test Driver - Kirk Lassiter
Youth Driver - no youth driver

Mylio Silvanos has been with the team since he was 14. Picked up whilst still karting Morvannec F1 has funded his career to date, mostly in GP2, regarded as the best formula to learn the trade, but also the most expensive. Mylio is certainly a highly talented driver, and the team has an extensive training program lined out to further improve on his talent. We were able to have a few words with Mylio himself.

"It's fantastic. I've been waiting for this moment for so long. I feel I've been ready for this for two seasons already, but the rules state you have to be 21. I know I'm at a disadvantage joining the race line up four races in, but seeing the cars performance this year I think I can bring myself into contention for wins, maybe even the championship! But most of all I'm here for the fun of it. I love racing, and I'm going to prove that."

"The team and Elof have been really good to me. They've funded me through GP2, something I could never have done on my own, and I've become very confident in my abilities. The team have given me a training program that at this time is set to last for almost seven seasons. The team and I want to see just what I'm capable of."

We asked Elof about Mylio. Why the team chose him, what things he's impressed the team with.

"Well one I made full commitment to the sport I began to pay attention to the GP2 series, but I wasn't very impressed with what I was seeing, so I instead got a team of scouts together and targeted karting championships. We found Mylio fairly early into the scout program. He was part of a small karting outfit that had entered a few kids into the UK's national karting championships. His on track performance was impressive, but what really made him stand out was the way he connected with everyone in the team. We kept an eye on him and approached the karting organization he was racing for. After that there were a few meetings, some phone calls and a decision was made. Everything after that is simple. Training. We kept him in karting to start with, but quickly realized that we weren't fully unlocking his potential, so we moved him straight into GP2."

"During the last three seasons Mylio has been attending test days and building up a strong relationship within the team. He has driven the car last year and this year and has really impressed us. If I had to make an estimate, which I know you're about the press me for, I'd say Mylio is about an extra 20-25% faster than any driver the team has had before."

"I must say I am very excited about what the next seasons hold. Mylio is a very quick driver, and he's only going to get quicker. Morvannec F1 has never had a driver of this caliber before, so it will be very interesting to see how Mylio performs. All I can say is, fellow rival teams, beware!"

Season Progress (S14 R3-4)

Season 14 - Races 3 and 4 (Bahrain - Imola)

The season has continued to develop in Morvannec F1's favour, with the team collecting another three podiums. Dante Jimenez has taken another two victories with Gregory Morrissey taking a second and a fourth. The other teams have also improved their relability, so hopefully that will make things interesting as the season progresses.

Bahrain
Not a very exciting race. Both drivers on the front row and a dominant 1-2 victory.

Imola
The Imola race was a very exciting race. The track was wet and the rain kept up throughout the event. This caused some problems for Morvannec F1's second driver, who's risky three stop strategy required a clean race. Unfortunatly he was caught out not long into the race and dropped a long way down the field after taking a trip through the gravel, which ultimately cost him two places, leaving him in fourth by the end.

Morvannec F1 Press Release

Morvannec F1 Team Press Release
Team Principle - Elof Valantor

Morvannec F1 has made changes to it's Staff line up with immediate effect. The positions of Lead Researcher and Lead Developer have been reassessed and team principle Elof Valantor has decided not to renew Van Schneider's and Bernardo Todd's contracts with the team. Elof Valantor had this to say on the matter.

"It came time to decide whether or not to renew employee contracts. Upon reassessment within the team I felt it necessary to seek new people for the positions of Lead Researcher and Lead Developer. Both Van Schneider and Bernardo Todd have accepted this and are looking forward to furthering their careers elsewhere in motor sport. I am not inclined to go into details about why it was necessary."

The position of Lead Researcher has been taken over by the experienced and highly rated Hipolito Simpson. Some figures within the paddock question the sensibility of changing such an important position during a current season. When this was put to Elof Valantor this was his response.

"Honestly I don't see how that point of view works. A change to the research department would be better early in the season before next years car concepts are finalized, and so this change is actually quite sensible, even advantageous as now the input from two highly talented designers will have gone into the concept research for the MF1-15a."

The position of Lead Developer has been handed to a new designer to F1, Leonard March. Again some sections of the paddock are voicing surprise at this appointment, and again Elof Valantor addresses his thinking on this decision.

"I can see how people might question this choice of new Lead Developer. Leonard is new to F1 and obviously lacks the experience of veteran designers. However, based on the internal structure of the team development isn't an area that requires massive amounts of experience. Currently, and for the foreseeable future, hiring on new talent is a good way for Morvannec F1 to advance it's development department."

Morvannec F1 is also pleased to announce that existing Commercial Manager and Chief Mechanic Morgan Roy and Rodrick Kahn will be with the team for another year after extending their contracts with the team.

Season Progress (S14 R1-2)

Season 14 - Races 1 and 2 (Australia - Malaysia)

The current season that Morvannec F1 is participating is their 14th season. This season has seen Morvannec F1 get a perfect start after the first two races, claiming dominant race 1-2's in both events. Pre-season intelligence suggested a close fight for Morvannec F1 with CamugaRacing and Munrowil. To the teams pleasant surprise both these rival competitors have suffered reliability issues. CamugaRacing suffering a DNF in round one and Munrowil failing to finish a race yet. However, Morvannec F1 didn't gain the opening wins by default. Lap time clearly show the team to have a significant performance advantage at present. Let's hope this advantage can continue.

Australia
Australia started off strongly for the team. The drivers easily gained the front row of the grid and went on to take a clear and decisive victory. Dante Jimenez leading home Gregory Morrissey.

Malaysia
Again the team got of to a strong start claiming the front row of the grid by over half a second. Dante on poll. The drivers had a mostly clean race and came home over 20 seconds in front of third place man Milos Pavloic (CamugaRacing)
